A Productive Start
Rather than rushing the drive there and back in a single day, we decided to stay overnight and make a proper weekend of it. As soon as we arrived, we checked into our hotel and headed straight to the immigration office. I was pleasantly surprised that the whole process took less than an hour! With the main goal of the trip accomplished so quickly, we grabbed lunch nearby and headed out to enjoy the cool Baguio air.
Our first stop was Burnham Park. It is such a classic Baguio experience, and we spent some time just walking around the lake and soaking in the atmosphere. The breeze was refreshing, and it felt great to be out and about without the pressure of a ticking clock.
Gardens and Greenery
Next, we made our way to the Botanical Garden. This is one of those places where you can easily lose track of time. We spent a few hours wandering through the different sections, stopping for drinks and snacks along the way. We even ended up buying some new plants for our own garden back home, which was a nice little bonus.
Stay in the loop!
Join us as we capture everyday life in the Philippines, share our travels around the world, and navigate the adventure of raising a family.

After exploring the gardens, we took a taxi to the Good Shepherd Convent. You can’t really visit Baguio without picking up some of their famous treats, so we made sure to grab a couple of obligatory jars of ube jam and some strawberry jam as well.
Family Time at Wright Park
With our bags full of jam, we took some photos and headed over to Wright Park. It was a lovely surprise to meet up with Joe’s mum and Lola there. We took a group photo at the Mansion House and then walked all the way through the park together. Even though it can get quite busy with tourists, there is something about the tall pine trees that makes the area feel very peaceful.
For dinner, we kept it simple and enjoyed some pasties nearby before making our way back to the hotel for the night. We wanted to get an early start the next morning to have breakfast and check out before the traffic got too heavy. It was a short trip, but it felt great to get my visa done and enjoy some quality family time in the City of Pines.
